A lot of LARPs are the results of weeks and months of effort. A couple of people plot and plan in their free time, to produce a game.
The Temple of the Crimson Moon is different. It's the result of a Build Your Own Game effort. The five of us got together on Saturday morning to talk about LARPs and LARP theory. When we were done, we threw out all sorts of game ideas. We knew that people coming to play a game on Sunday afternoon, so we had to find something we agreed on and fast. We voted on our ideas and eventually settled on The Temple of the Crimson Moon. Over the rest of the night, we wrote and put together the pieces for this game.
On June 30, 2002, we ran the game. Wow! We turned the interior of my condo into an ancient temple/line course. Most of the action took place out in the backyard, which certainly intrigued the neighbors! Expecting a game that would run perhaps an hour or two, our players kept it rolling for four hours of fun!
We'd like to thank Jacqui Antonelli, Chris Chaney, Matt Ender, Jen Raymond Ender, Alex Haley, Sam Hariton, Tim Lasko, Mark Waks, and Eric Wirtanen for their interpretation of our characters. We'd also like to thank Jordan Diewald for the use of his bedroom and for his roleplaying. He and his sister Julie also helped with some of our special effects.
