This LARP was inspired by the sentient starship Vortex of Chaos (played by Julie Diewald) saying "I'm pregnant" at the RPI August 17th, 2019 run of Across the Sea of Stars. The child was a mix of Vortex's hardware and software and Mannheim's (played by Penny Gale Vander Giessen) Human DNA and mentality (wetware). Two days later, after some sleep, this LARP spilled out onto Jennifer and Jordan's whiteboard of plotting. This is the story of the Long Goodbye.

It didn't take long to learn that Julie and Penny Gale had a more involved discussion about children, the environments they are born into, what it would take to form the child, and much more. It was fascinating to learn from, and we learned more about some of our characters than we ever expected. It's canon now.

As Julie said: "It takes an armada to raise a baby ship!"

When the COVID-19 Pandemic hit, and Jordan and Jeff were in self-isolation, they realized that the creation of this LARP could be crowd-sourced. The LARP could be designed for play over a video link. That's where we're at now...

And it takes roughly 3.1×1024 steps to go from the Milky Way galaxy to the Great Attractor — 3.1 quadrillion steps to walk approximately 250,000,000 light years.

The map and information about the Great Attractor comes from this SciTech Daily article.

Given how the Coronavirus is currently interfering with all of us, the pun seemed inescapable. Coronal Mass Ejections Productions is the result of efforts by these authors:
