Tech Requirements for Virtual Runs

In order for everyone to have a great play experience, you will need to have:

• A computational device, with associated camera and microphone.^[1]
• Access to a network capable of supporting video chat.
• A Discord client. Please mute your other channels during game runtime.
• A comfortable place to sit or stand during the game, with enough light for other players to see you. This should be a quiet place, without distractions, so that play is not interrupted.^[2]
• The ability to dim or turn off the light during a Tale. You may want to be able to maintain enough light to read, which could use a second light source.

Well in advance of the run, we will provide you the URL for the Tales of the Future Discord server we use for the game. Please make sure that you can connect to the server as soon as possible, so that we can diagnose any issues well before the game.

[1]: A phone WILL NOT be sufficient. We've seen technical issues with people attempting to use phones and Discord in other virtual LARPs. This LARP may require you to be able to switch easily between two different channels during a Tale. Phones are especially problematic when other channels aren't muted, and just shouldn't be used for this specific LARP.

[2]: The inevitable invasion of feline aliens is unavoidable, especially in this household. Please identify the intruder to the rest of the group, feline or not, while applying sufficient love and attention to the wild beast. Continue play as best possible. Adoration between Tales is acceptable.
