Eating
Eat or be eaten. It's Nature's Way.
Unknown
Some say eat or be eaten
Some say live and let live
But all are agreed as they join the stampede
You should never take more than you give
The Circle of Life, lyrics by Tim Rice
Introduction
Some characters in the game can be eaten! Some characters in the game have the ability to eat pieces of the edible characters. Yum! Every character has an apparent Edibility (Edi) score on their name badge. This is a number, on a scale from 0 to 5:
Apparent Edibility | |
Score | Meaning |
0 | Inedible. May not be eaten. |
1 | Nearly inedible. Yecch! |
2 | Somewhat edible. Looks pretty bad, though. |
3 | Edible. Smells OK. |
4 | Very edible. Looks very good. |
5 | Delicious. Makes your mouth water. |
Every edible character will have a set of Taste cards. These represent the secret taste that someone will get when they take that bite out of you. They will say things like "Bland," "Chewy," or "Delicious." Inedible characters do not have Taste cards.
If You Taste Someone
Characters with the Eating special ability can go up to anyone who has a Taste card and ask for a taste. The character being eaten should spread out their Taste cards, sight unseen, so the character doing the eating can choose one at random. The person doing the eating should take the Taste card, look at the actual taste, and roleplay what it feels like to eat that taste. Once the Taste card is "eaten," it should be discarded.
If the character runs out of Taste cards, then you can't eat any more of them. You'll have to get a bite from someone else.
Should you get a taste card that says "Poisonous," then that morsel of food will make you sick. It won't incapacitate you, but you won't be happy. You will have a terrible taste in your mouth and be unable to eat for five minutes.
If You Are Tasted
If someone takes a bite out of you, roleplay it. You're a piece of food, so you probably can't prevent the inevitable. While it hurts, you are not incapacitated by the action. If all of your Taste cards are eaten, then there's simply not enough of you left that looks edible.
