Played Hamlet to accolades from most English critics.

Clement VII

Italian

1982

*

Played Pope Clement VII in the tale of the imprisonment of the Pope by the troops of the Holy Roman Empire in 1527. Gaspar's brilliant performance is drowned in bad cinematography, inept editing, and an often overwhelming musical score. The director managed to make the Roman location shots look like a Cleveland slum.

Overdose

English

1983

* * *

Played a dying drug addict in a maudlin but interesting performance about life in a London slum.

Ludwig

American

1984

* * * * *

Played Ludwig von Beethoven in the award-winning musical about the life and times of the famous composer. Gaspar was nominated for an Academy Award for his performance. Much of the film was shot in beautiful locations throughout Germany. This is one of the best films of the 1980's.

The Endgame Protocol

American

1984

* *

Played the predictable Russian KGB villain in a predictable hunt for a predictable nuclear device hidden in a predictable American city.

Martial Law

American

1986

* * *

Played a British reporter in India during the state of emergency in the summer of 1975. Gaspar's strong performance was undermined by a weak supporting cast and unnecessary extra plots. The film is marred by several poor editorial cuts that obviously switch from shots filmed in India to shots made on a sound stage set.

Miami Vice

American TV

1986

The Greek episode. Played a sleazy Greek drug dealer looking for an American supplier of cocaine.

Elba

American, made for TV movie

1986

* * * *

Played Napoleon Bonaparte during his exile on Elba. A film of unusual quality for American television, Elba won several prestigious awards.

Fall From Grace

American

1987

* * * * *

Played a psychopathic American Army priest named Baxter serving in Viet Nam. The riveting performance by Gaspar garnered him a second Academy Award nomination. The musical score captures the essence of Baxter's insanity.

A Different Place

American

1988

* * * *

Played a strange German parapsychologist trying to rid a small German village of hauntings from beyond the grave. The film proved that Gaspar could play comedy and do it well. The sleeper hit of the summer of 1988.

Musashi Miyamoto

American

1988

* * * *

Played the title role in the epic Japanese saga of the ultimate samurai. This could have easily been a bad kung-fu movie, but the light and humorous script makes the movie fly. The spectacular stunts, performed by Gaspar, delighted the audiences and surprised his critics.

Serial Killer episode. Played the killer stalking the set of a typical soap opera.

A Colombian Cruise

The Coyote of Rio Sanchez

Italian

1981

* * *

Played Sister Mary, the loco nun that stole all of her scenes in an interesting spaghetti Western.

Quasar Raiders

Italian

1982

*

Played the scantily-dressed Cygnus X-1 in an incredibly bad science fiction film. The plot is absolutely ridiculous. This is a good flick to rent if you love badly-dubbed movies made with an overabundance of $1.98 "special" effects.

The Ladies of Verona

Italian TV serial

1985-1986

Played Raven Ragotzy, the bitchiest evil character in Italian serials at the time. When her character was killed off late in 1985, the fan response was swift and overwhelming. Raven was brought back for another seven-month stint on the show. Lisa left the show in order to film The Stripper; her fans tried to get her back to no avail.

Aftershocks

Italian, made for TV

1987

* * *

Played the lead role in the psychological drama of a wife learning about her husband's secret homosexual life after his death. Lisa's performance was hampered by an overly talky script.

The Stripper

Italian

1987

* * * *

Played the lead role as a dancer trying to make it in a difficult profession, who is forced into stripping to survive. The erotic dance at the climax of the movie was too steamy for the American film rating board. The videocassette release containing the two minutes cut from the American theatrical release is well worth searching around for.

Guilt By Association

American, made for TV

1987

* * *

Played the murderous daughter who managed to shift the suspicion for her crimes onto a total stranger.

Unacceptable Scenario

American

1988

* * *

Played the wife of a CIA agent taken hostage by Islamic terrorists. The European locations are poorly used in an otherwise well-filmed movie.

Murder and the First Lady

American, made for TV

1988

* * * *

Played Pamela Rush-Hodgeborne, the English secretary to Eleanor Roosevelt accused of murder early in 1939. Based on the amusing 1984 murder mystery Murder and the First Lady, written by Elliott Roosevelt, son of Eleanor.

Deep Six

American

1988

* * * * *

Played Congresswoman Loren Smith, the love interest of hero Dirk Pitt. The riveting story of a disappearing President and a ghost ship in the Pacific holds you on the edge of your seat until the fantastic climax. Based on the 1984 novel by Clive Cussler, this is the action picture of the year. Don't miss it.

Death, She Discovered

American TV

1988

The Serial Killer episode. Played the bitchy tramp accused of murdering her competitors on the set of a typical soap opera.

The Sorceress

American, made for TV

1989

* *

Played the villain in an uninteresting sword and sorcery movie. Watch for the lights of the 747 flying behind the demon being summoned early in the film.

A Colombian Cruise

1989

* * * *

Played the Dona Calderone, who is seduced by the suave hero in order to destroy her husband's drug syndicate. Based on the 1987 novel by Sir Adam Cavanaugh.
