SECOND, WE NEED TO KNOW A LITTLE ABOUT THE KIND OF CHARACTER YOU LIKE TO
PLAY:

For the questions that follow, we'd like you to select a point or
range on the following spectrum from 1 to 7, where:

1 = Truly Evil: I'd sell my sister if it furthered my plans for
	       world domination.

2 = Moderately Evil: I'd disturb the neighbors with strange rituals
to wreak revenge on my annoying boss.

3 = Slightly Evil: I'd call the cops on a loud party just because
	       they didn't invite me.

4 = Neutral: I'd rather not talk about it.

5 = Slightly Good: I'd help a little old lady across the street.

6 = Moderately Good: I'd work hard to see that true Justice is done.

7 = Truly Good: I'd give up everything in order to fight tirelessly
with a wet newspaper to smack Evil on the nose - Bad Dog!

Using those definitions, you've just been given the chance to play the
character you've always dreamed about. Where does that character fall on
the scale below:

[ ] It depends on my character - if the character has other things
to do, those goals come first
[ ] Keep doing what you were doing; the victim probably deserved it

THIRD, WE WANT TO KNOW A LITTLE ABOUT YOU AS A PLAYER:

We've found that there are three general approaches people tend to take
when playing a character:

The PROBLEM SOLVER says "I focus on *figuring out* what's going on,
solving puzzles, searching for things, investigating clues, following up
on plots, pursuing my goals." A Problem Solver would rather investigate
a murder than carry it out, for example.

The ACTOR says "I make things *happen* with my character, going for
dramatic scenes (deaths, tearful reconciliations, loud arguments),
whether it's by myself, one-on-one, or in front of the entire game." An
Actor might tearfully confess to a murder when questioned, enjoying
being exposed for the sheer drama of the scene.

The ROLEPLAYER says "I *identify* with my character, internalizing their
goals and acting or reacting only as they would." A Roleplayer would do
their best to Get Away With Murder, working diligently to cover all
their tracks and to throw off suspicion.

People tend to use some combination of these approaches. On the triangle
below, mark an X where you think you fall as a player:

                        Problem Solver
                              /\
                             / \
                            / \
                           / \
                          / \
                   Actor +----------+ Roleplayer

We've had the pleasure to role-play with many of you. Some of you are new
to us. What special skills do you have that we might be able to put to use
in the game?

What games have you played in prior to The Treaty of Berlin? Please
give me some idea of the styles and genres of these games. (e.g.
Til Death Do Us Part, period murder mystery, or Balance of
Power, limited duration chronicle World of Darkness game, or
Collision Imminent!, science fiction horde game.)

Is there anyone who we should not pair you up with or against in a game?
Is there someone who we must connect you with?

FINALLY, WE ALWAYS ASK A COUPLE OF ESSAY QUESTIONS:

Pick one of the following dates:

    August 13, 1961
    November 22, 1963
    August 20, 1968
    July 20, 1969
    June 17, 1972
    November 20, 1975
    November 4, 1980
    January 28, 1986

Where were you on that date, and what were you up to at the time?

While you step through the new and improved security detector in the
Embassy, the alarm goes off unexpectedly. What did the detector discover,
and how closely are they going to have to search you to find it?

Thanks! We're looking forward to the game and your participation!
